Key Details for The Renters’ Rights Act Information Sheet 2026
If you are a landlord, you have no doubt been hearing the latest on the new Renters Rights Bill – and for good reason. The laws and legislations are currently changing the UK property landscape. Here at Darams, we want to ensure the local community has the right information to keep you compliant, plus ensure you avoid any penalties due to important deadlines.
The Information Sheet about the Renters’ Rights Act 2026 is no exception. It is a key document that landlords and their agents must give to tenants. It has been made mandatory to inform them about important new changes to their tenancy.
The Sheet will include updates for tenants on key issues such as the following:
- End of Section 21: "No-fault" evictions are abolished.
- Pets: Tenants have the right to request to keep a pet, which landlords cannot unreasonably refuse.
- Rent Increases: Limited to once per year – with rent review clauses no longer valid.
Who Must Receive It?
All tenants with an assured or assured short hold tenancy (AST) created before the 1st of May 2026, which has a written record.
What is the Deadline?
The Information Sheet must be given to every named tenant by 31 May 2026.
How do I serve the Information Sheet?
You have to use the official PDF document downloaded from the GOV.UK website.
The document must be provided as a printed copy or as a PDF attachment via email/text. Please note: Providing a link to the document is not valid.
